Hello, here is our show report from the show Kriss Foster and Friend.

- The venue - what sort of venue is it? Pub, Bar, Club, Restaurant... What sort of clientèle normally frequent this venue
A bar at the end of Princes Street. The venue is in their cellar bar and restaurant. The food is great and the venue was seemed popular with a range of clientele, bot local and visiting.

- The performance area - stage, separate room, open air?
The venue was downstairs and was a small room, a great little space with a piano and an old fashioned jazz cafe sort of feel.

- The team of staff at the venue - did they assist the shows? Did the show get in the way of the normal business etc?
The show didn't get in the way of normal business. The staff were friendly and welcomed us. We could advertise our show in the window and the staff were helpful in directing audience members to the space.

- How you advertised your show - Fringe brochure, flyering, posters, word of mouth etc
We advertised our show through flyering, the free fringe brochure and the main fringe brochure. We found that the majority of people came because of the main fringe brochure. It was definitely worth paying to go in there. Also the free fringe brochure was invaluable for getting people in. We split our time flyering between the royal mile in the mornings and the half price hut in the hours leading up to the show. We had a couple of good reviews and this helped bring some more people in.

- How your shows went in terms of audience numbers - solid numbers every show? Did it vary by day? Affected by weather?
We varied from between four and fifty. Tuesdays were probably the quietest and the weekends were busiest. Due to the nature of the show and the space it was as fun with four as it was with a full house!

- Your show itself - what worked, what didn't work, what needs to change
The show, a mixture of storytelling and songs worked well. After the first two or three it tightened up considerably.

- Buckets - we don't need accounts, but how were the donations to the buckets - bad, good, generous
Audiences were generous and we did well on the bucket. We took some merchandise and explained that if they donated different amounts they could take different stuff- from a postcard to a performance in your living room!

- Technical set-up at the venue - what worked, what didn't work, what needs to change

Tech wise there is only a small DJ pa, with an input for an ipod and for a mic. This is fine for straight stand up but for us we needed somewhere to plug in our instruments. We took a small mixing desk to give our show and the others in the venue more inputs so it was not a problem.

Admin & Communication process (between Free Fringe, Captains, Venues and you) - what worked, what didn't work, what needs to change

Communication was great. We met with the other performers in the venue and they were all lovely. No one overran and it all ran smoothly. Our venue captain was always contactable and liaised with the venues management.

- Any other learning points for anyone involved - what worked, what didn't work, what needs to change

We found the experience wholly pleasurable and would definitely do it again- no complaints!
