3:30 - Skeptics on the Fringe - Beyond the Fringe of Reason

- The venue - The Jam House is a jazz venue slightly off the beaten track for the Fringe in the Queen Street

- The performance area - A large stage and auditorium (300 seats)

- The team of staff at the venue - They tended to let the audience in for the next event before our audience had left. This became shambolic at the end of our show, and people left without donating because they were walking around people coming in.

- How you advertised your show - PBH Brochure, Fliers, social media (Meetup, Facebook, Twitter, etc)

- How your shows went in terms of audience numbers - 50-120 audience numbers varied depending on speaker and topic

- Your show itself - Our format is established (Talk by an expert on a topic from science or society followed by Q & A). It works well in a spoken-word venue where people don't expect comedy.

- Buckets - better than last year - bucket-size varied based on the quality of the talk

- Technical set-up at the venue - Fraught. The Projector was faulty for the entire run despite our requests that it be fixed. Their other equipment is ageing. In the end we got by because we encouraged speakers to bring extra cables and their own projectors where they could, and by borrowing other people's equipment. There was a roving microphone which was ideal for the Q & A in such a large space and which we were able to use twice, but it was not on offer at the start of our events. It looked as though they didn't want us to have use of it. Only one member of staff was able to offer some technical support, and at times some of what was required was beyond them.

- Admin & Communication process (between Free Fringe, Captains, Venues and you) - Not great. It could be hard to get hold of the team outside performance times, either by email or by phone.

- Any other learning points for anyone involved - 3:30 is not a good time for our kind of show. It was just about ok because it was at the weekend but the Jam House did not work well for us this year.
