- The venue - Excellent venue, rock pub but with a space set of to the side that the performance takes place in with doors you can shut.
- The performance area - There is a stage which does have the equipment such as drum kit, speakers at the back of it but you still have a decent amount of space.
- The team of staff at the venue - They are fantastic, really friendly and helpful. We had a very short get in for how much stuff we had and we didn't need a mike so we just set everything up ourself.
- How you advertised your show - Fringe brochure, flyering, posters, word of mouth, we did really well through word of mouth but others said they had come because they liked the poster. Lots of people came through us flyering about 3 hours before the show right till the last minute outside the venue.
- How your shows went in terms of audience numbers - We had approximately 25-30 in the week and this doubled on the weekend to 60+.
- Your show itself - The show worked very well, the venue was the right size, nice and intimate, we got 4 very good reviews and have since booked a 30 day tour for next year. We are developing the show into a longer piece.
- Buckets - we don't need accounts, but how were the donations to the buckets - Very generous, we had a lot of notes and a lot of people said we should have been charging for the show.
- Technical set-up at the venue - The tech was fine, although we only had one lighting state on or low which we had to do by covering up a light with a makeshift paddle. The lighting switch is on the light so you have to stand on a chair to get to it. If the show need v.little tech its fine but for theatre shows it's trickier and you have to be willing to do it v minimally. It seems a shame that Bannermans have a set of lights, pa and lighting booth that they don't allow companies to use as they need one of their staff in to use it.
- Admin & Communication process (between Free Fringe, Captains, Venues and you) - We didn't meet a venue captain or anyone from free fringe during the show which was a shame but not essential as we were happy to manage things ourselves.
- Any other learning points for anyone involved - I think Bannermans is an excellent venue and the intimacy works really well for theatre and the location on Cowgate is fantastic, just opposite just the tonic so lots of passing trade, although a later time slot would be better!
