- The venue - what sort of venue is it? Pub, Bar, Club, Restaurant... What sort of clientèle normally frequent this venue
The Royal Mile Tavern is a delightful pub with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Clientèle were both tourists and regulars. There was a friendly bouncer one Saturday as the football was on, but he wasn't needed. The food's good too - the nachos were nicely satisfying.

- The performance area - stage, separate room, open air?
Performance space is a small room at the back of the venue. Seats/stands about 35 at a push - 28 comfortably. Pews for seats with mic and PA system at the front.

- The team of staff at the venue - did they assist the shows? Did the show get in the way of the normal business etc?
The staff were very friendly and seemed to enjoy having the shows there. They allowed us to get on with our own devices, and helpfully provided bin bags etc when we needed them. (Do keep it nice and tidy if you go back in 2012.) The show only got in the way when queues formed, but they were never for long and it didn't disturb anyone. Just be mindful to remind people on the way out to be patient!

- How you advertised your show - Fringe brochure, flyering, posters, word of mouth etc
Our audience came from the Free Fringe brochure and an hour of flyering before the show, with more people coming from the Free Fringe brochure as the month went on. Flyering was very valuable BUT only if you talk to people and tell them about your show. Every flyeree is a mini show. Smile, or people won't want to spend an hour in your company. Word of mouth was good to - youth hostels guests will tell the world (well the hostel) if they like your show.

- How your shows went in terms of audience numbers - solid numbers every show? Did it vary by day? Affected by weather?
Only on three days did we not turn people away, and those were the ones with less flyering. Normal week-spread audience (weekend busy, Wednesday quiet day etc). Weather didn't affect numbers, just how happy people were to take a flyer.

- Buckets - we don't need accounts, but how were the donations to the buckets - bad, good, generous
Buckets were as we expected - about a pound a person all considered.

- Technical set-up at the venue - what worked, what didn't work, what needs to change
Just make sure someone doesn't put a brochure over the extractor fan, and then you only realise when you're packing up.

- Admin & Communication process (between Free Fringe, Captains, Venues and you) - what worked, what didn't work, what needs to change
I was the Venue Captain - it seemed to all work fine. VERY impressed with the PBH crew who brought us the PA and microphones - Thank you John Glennon!
